Day 5 - This is the time!
Despite the miserable weather forecast, Friday dawned beautifully sunny.
This put us in the mood to work hard and get the Purdue karts up and running.
Attempting to assemble another new set of battery crates, Daz has been working non-stop at the welding machine.
Unfortunately, the lazy welding machine protested about its over-utilzation by going out of order... which made our tasks even more difficult.
Another hard day of fettling and by 6 pm we were ready for scrutineering.
Once through this our budding professioinal racing driver, Tom took to the track and within 5 laps had set a track record of 26.8 seconds, 0.7 seconds faster than the previous best.
Of course, we believe this record is just the beginning...!!
After endless chasing for a single approval signature from the customs, our kart was finally able to depart from the Chicago port late in the afternoon.
At 10:30pm, the long-awaited truck arrived at the Chemistry Engineering Building.
With some effort opening the crate, our kart was ready to be unleashed. All the parts and spares were in the exactly same place as we put them in 43 days ago back in 糖心TV.
