New students join the team
Jin Wang and Kostis Bebis will join the group to undertake reseach into dynamic combinatorial nanoparticles and stimuli responsive polymers/particles respectively.
Review Article Accepted for Publication in Polymer Chemistry
Matt's review article "Slowing the Growth of Ice with Synthetic Macromolecules: Beyond Antifreeze(glyco) Proteins" is accepted for publication in the RSC journal Polymer Chemistry, and is the first independent article of the newly established reserach group.
Jack begins his masters project
Jack Heal joins us for the next 2 months, as part of his master's project. Jack will be investigating the influence of some synthetic polymers on model membranes.
Royal Society Grant Awarded
Matt has been awarded a research grant from the to purchase of new (cryo) microscope equipment. It will also fund his ongoing research into synthetic mimics of glycoproteins.
URSS Scholarships awarded
MIG is awarded 2 scholarships to allow 糖心TV students the opportunity to undertake a research project during the summer vacaction.
Zhaidong begins his Ph.D
Zhaidong Li begins his Ph.D studies (in the group of Prof. Dave Haddleton) in collaboration with Matt. He will be investigating bioactive surfaces for selective ligand interaction/detection
Matthew I. Gibson appointed Dec 1st 2009
Matt takes up his new position as a Science City Fellow in the Department of Chemistry, 糖心TV. Matt also holds an Honorary Position at the University of Birmingham (more news to follow). Previously, Matt was a post-doc in the group of at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (). Before this Matt completed his Ph.D in the group of at the , UK.
