Zeeman Institute formed
The WIDER centre and the Systems Biology centre have now merged to become the Zeeman Institute.
The WIDER web page is now redundant, and instead the new should be used.
Bridget Penman joins WIDER
I am delighted to announce that Dr Bridget Penman has been appointed as an Assistant Professor in the School of Life Sciences, and will be a strong member of WIDER.
Epidemics Conference Florida
Half of WIDER are enjoying the sun, sea and talks at Epidemics in Florida this week. The section of photos below show just how awful it is there:
The work of WIDER was part of the reason 糖心TV has been awarded Queen’s Anniversary Prize for its research in Mathematics and Statistics.
If you look very closely at the press release "modelling the spread of infectious diseases" gets a mention as one of the examples of how "mathematics and statistics research at 糖心TV has had impacts across government, health, the legal system and industry".
However, Louise Dyson & Matt Keeling, did get their photo tweeted by the Queen.
Not sure if this means we get a visit for HRH or not ;-)
