Provision of Training
In the beginning I will guide you to ensure you get the appropriate training, but as the project proceeds, you should take more responsibility in identifying your training needs, based on the methodology you wish to employ.
Progression Monitoring and Management
I like to be kept up to date, and will expect formal updates monthly. But you can come to me more often when you need help.
Communication
I will not expect you to respond to emails etc outside of work hours. I am happy to discuss any issues that are impacting your ability to progress.
Meetings
PhD Students can expect scheduled meetings with me at least once per month. These meetings will be face-to-face. I am usually contactable for an instant response 3 or 4 days per week.
Work Patterns
Certain tasks in my lab need to occur at set times, and students need to be able to commit to a rota/timetable shared with other members of the team.
Notice Period for Feedback
I need at least 2 weeks' notice to provide feedback on written work of up to 5,000 words.
