Research Interests
My research aims to understand how RNA modifications and post-transcriptional gene regulation shape cell-fate transitions. A major focus of my group is N6-methyladenosine (m6A), the most abundant internal modification of messenger RNA. We are particularly interested in how individual m6A sites are established, why different cellular states show distinct dependencies on m6A, and how specific RNA modifications influence cell-fate decisions. We combine molecular and cell biology, acute protein-degradation systems, functional genomics, pluripotent stem-cell models, quantitative RNA analysis, live-cell imaging, and computational approaches. Our long-term goal is to move beyond descriptive maps of RNA modifications towards a causal and predictive understanding of epitranscriptomic regulation, and ultimately to develop strategies for manipulating RNA regulation with site-level precision in development, health and disease.
Scientific Inspiration
Feng Zhang inspires me through his ability to combine fundamental biological discovery with the development of transformative molecular technologies. I particularly admire the way his research turns mechanistic understanding into programmable tools, an approach that influences my own ambition to understand and ultimately manipulate RNA regulation with precision.
