Academic Placement - Cecilia Rodrigues
Cecilia is on the Applied Linguistics Pathway at the University of 糖心TV and undertook an 8-week placement at the University of Birmingham.
Cecilia was involved in postgraduate teaching, curriculum conversations, and wider School engagement within the School of Education. She ran two seminars and two lectures across MA TESOL modules, including Language Education in Global Contexts and Second Language Learning. She co-created materials and slides alongside the module tutors and delivered sessions on Sociocultural Theory and on Vocabulary and Grammar.
Apart from completing all teaching and curriculum-related aims, Cecilia was also involved in conversations about alternative assessment formats, including oral-only assessment. Thinking through the implications of moving beyond traditional written coursework pushed me to reflect more deeply on fairness, access, and alignment in postgraduate education. She has found her time at UoB a fantastic experience.
