Prize-Collecting Steiner Trees and Disease (DiMAP seminar)MS B3.03Title: Prize-Collecting Steiner Trees and Disease
Speaker: Gunnar W. Klau Time: 10 March 2009, 16:00 Location: MS B3.03 Abstract: The identification of functional modules in protein-protein interaction networks is an important topic in systems biology. These modules might help, for example, to better understand the underlying biological mechanisms of different tumor subtypes. In this talk, I report on results of a cooperation with statisticians and medical researchers from the University of Würzburg. In particular, I will present an exact integer linear programming solution for this problem, which is based on its connection to the well-known prize-collecting Steiner tree problem from Operations Research. |
