How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

INAUGURAL CONFERENCE: VICTORIAN WORLD LITERATURES

Working from the proposition that Victorian Studies is in a moment of transition from a focus on British culture and history to one that embraces a globalised world system, we seek to draw together scholars and students of Victorian Studies as well as editors, publishers and educationalists to address three concerns key to the re-formulation of the field.

What might a comparative, global Victorian Studies look like?

How might this be taught?

How might this be published and disseminated?

Why Jacques Rancière and Critical Pedagogy?

While the importance of the work of French social theorist Jacques Rancière is increasingly acknowledged, his contributions to the fields of Education and Critical Pedagogy are still largely unknown in the English-speaking world. The purpose of this event is to explore the significance of Rancière’s critique of traditional pedagogy and his ideas about the centrality of ‘equality’ in education. This conference seeks both to examine the social and political context in which Rancière carried out his work on pedagogy, as well as its relevance and application within the contemporary ‘neoliberal’ university.
