Research Seminar - Dr. Salma Monani 鈥 鈥業ndigenous Ecocinema: Reframing the End of the World鈥
Abstract:
This talk is about d-ecocinema. D-ecocinema attends to Indigenous cinema鈥檚 specific contributions to understanding media鈥檚 relations to the environment. I argue that drawing on their Indigenous roots and ways of knowing, many contemporary Indigenous filmmakers are imaginatively articulating media鈥檚 relations to place and body to immerse viewers in entanglements of earth and flesh. Such material entanglements reframe how viewers might approach 鈥渢he end of the world.鈥
