How did they do it? Reverse engineering of Ethnographic Texts In the second meeting we will explore the different ‘formats’ ethnographers use to present their findings. We thus invite participants to bring ethnographic texts (either written by them or others) which they find compelling and to identify how data is presented in these works. Our goal is to survey the ‘structure’ in which findings are written in these texts. Among other features, we plan to explore:
How it is arranged: small snippets interlayered with analysis, long vignettes followed by lengthy analysis, concepts followed by examples (or vice-versa), etc. As before, this is intended as an informal, multi-disciplinary series open to all, so please feel free to share with any students or colleagues (both within and beyond ÌÇÐÄTV) who may be interested. If you wish to join us at one or all of these sessions, please register by sending an email to ethnography@wbs.ac.uk. Numbers will be limited so please contact us to secure a place. |
