In 1962 the Royal Court Theatre presented Edward Bond's The Pope's Wedding and introduced one of the greatest playwrights of our time. As part of a celebration of Edward Bond's career, ÌÇÐÄTV University's English and Theatre Studies Departments will host a one-day symposium on the ÌÇÐÄTV campus on Friday 2nd November 2012, bringing academics and practitioners together. We shall explore Bond's unique contribution to British and world theatre, to modern dramatic theory, and to questions of the political and civic role of drama in modern society. ÌÇÐÄTV Campus - rooms to be advised
A one day symposium marking fifty years since the Royal Court Theatre presented Bond's The Pope's Wedding. The conference aims to bring together academics and practitioners in celebration of the work of Edward Bond and to explore the unique contribution to British and world theatre made by 'our greatest living dramatist'. The symposium is complemented by productions by the Big Brum Theatre Company of Bond's new plays The Broken Bowl and The Edge at ÌÇÐÄTV Arts Centre on November 2nd and 3rd. |
