»Deutsche Arbeit« Geschichte und Aktualität eines
ideologischen Selbstbilds [»German Labour« History and timeliness of an ideological self-perception]
Book presentation and conversation with Christine Achinger, Felix Axster, Iris Därmann, Nikolas Lelle and Andreas Speit
The idea that there is a 'German' kind of labour has been a firm component of nationalist German self-perceptions sincE the mid-19th century. This idea became particularly influential during National Socialism and also served to rationalise the policits of extermination against Jews, Sinti, Roma and others. The focus of this conversation will be the genesis and historical impact of the topos of 'German labour', and the degree to which these images of the national self and its 'others' are relevant for current ideological formations among the (new) Right.
German Labour: Critical Perspectives on an ideological self-image, Wallstein 2018
