Emre is the author of Paraliterary: The Making of Bad Readers in Postwar America (Chicago: U of Chicago Press, 2017) and The Personality Brokers out now from Doubleday (and published under What's Your Type in the U.K. by Harper Collins). Her academic writing has appeared or is forthcoming in American Literary History, American Literature, Modernism/modernity, and PMLA. Her essays have appeared or forthcoming in the New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Harper's Magazine, London Review of Books, The Atlantic, The Nation, and other venues.
