Reading lunch: Comparative Approaches to Addiction/Eating Disorders 1 Literature, with Dr Susannah Wilson (Department of French Studies)

- Export as iCalendar
Location: H3.45

The next two sessions of the Reading Lunch series will explore interdisciplinary approaches and methodologies to understanding addiction and eating disorders, which we hope will both prove useful to researchers in the CHM community and highlight work by ÌÇÐÄTV academics outside of the History department. This week we will be joined by Dr Susannah Wilson (Department of French Studies, ÌÇÐÄTV) to discuss two of her recent texts (one published and the other unpublished) exploring the morbid fascination with eating disorders, and drawing on her research into women's mental health in nineteenth-century France.

Susannah Wilson, 'The iconography of anorexia nervosa in the long nineteenth century', in Francesca Scott, Kate Scarth and Jo Won Chung (eds), Picturing Women's Health (London, Pickering & Chatto, 2014), pp. 77-104

Iconography of Anorexia - notes

Susannah Wilson, 'Anorexia and its metaphors' (unpublished)

A light lunch will be provided.
