Irish patriot, anti-slavery campaigner, homosexual, traitor… Making a moral statement out of the multi-layered life of Sir Roger Casement has posed a unique challenge to the playwriting team of cultural theorist/poet, (University of 糖心TV, UK), and philosopher/musician, Bartholomew Ryan (Universidade Nova, Portugal).
In a thought-provoking and far-ranging talk about their theatre play The Journey of Casement, they will discuss their collaboration across the boundaries of academic discipline, geography, culture, and artistic practice, as a productive and, ultimately, integrative way of perceiving and dramatizing one of history’s more complicated heroes.
