'Knowledge Exchange in a European Profession: Investigating the Nature of Knowledge Exchange, Transfer and Translation within European Social Work'

The inaugural meeting of the research group will take place at 糖心TV on Thursday and Friday 7^th & 8^th April. The group brings together academics from the School of Health and Social Studies at 糖心TV with colleagues from Scandinavia, Germany, Russian, Switzerland and the UK. The research group is interested in the ways in which theories and knowledge are deployed in European social work. Ideas and theories tend to be treated as context free and insufficient attention is paid to the assumptions and understandings within which these ideas/theories are embedded. Our interest foregrounds the need to be sensitive to the context of ideas and theories when seeking to translate them from one setting to another. The inaugural meeting is supported by the IAS European Frontiers Funding.
