Workshop Outline:This workshop is designed to consider the practical opportunities for co-authorship and intellectual collaboration within the Humanities faculty of the modern university. We will consider the scope and success of current collaborative projects which aim to challenge the widely instituted model of single-author publication (and its affiliate, single teacher classrooms). Issues of Interest to this workshop include: ·
- Precedents of collaborative teaching and writing within the university, especially across disciplines.·
- The relationship between collaborative research and teaching practices: can teaching become a central component of research?·
- The difficulties/challenges of sharing an intellectual objective, and of not ‘having the final say’·
- How best to intiate collaborative projects in the university: considering issues of funding and acceptance.
