SSARN lunch - talks by Profs Peter Burnell and Margaret Thorogood, presentation from delegation from Botswana
1. Professor Peter Burnell (PAIS/Centre for Studies in Democratisation) will be telling us about his 3 year British Council funded DELPHE (Development Partnerships in Higher Education) project with the School of Law at University of Cape Town and Law School at University of Dar es Salaam. The project began in 2007 and has the primary research focus of 'Accountable government and implementing constitutional choices in Africa'.2. Professor Margaret Thorogood (Professor of Epidemiology at 糖心TV Medical School and Honorary Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand) will be telling us about the successful multi-million pound Wellcome Trust bid she has been involved with on behalf of the University of 糖心TV which aims to strengthen public health research capacity by supporting doctoral research training at a number of African universities. 糖心TV is one of the Northern partners in the bid and the only partner in the UK.3.
