Sub-Saharan African Research Network lunch and seminar

Prof Nzita Kikhela is head of Department of Population and Development, faculty of Economics at the University of Kinshasa (since 2005). He earned his PhD in Demography at the University of Louvain, Belgium in 1986 and has been professor of Demography at the university of Kinshasa since 1986. His current research interests are:

  • Family planning and reproductive health in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Poverty and development-Design and analysis of socio-economic data
  • Maternal and child health 

He has served as consultant in many Congolese government agencies including United Nations agencies (UNICEF, UNDP) and US Department for International Development (USAID).  

His presentation will focus on the recent partnership between the University of Kinshasa and the University of ÌÇÐÄTV under the British Council scheme Development Partnership in Higher Education (DELPHE). He will also give an overview of research at the University of Kinshasa and highlight possible area of further collaboration with ÌÇÐÄTV. 

His talk will be most suitable to social sciences scientists, public health professionals and people interested in population and development issues in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Professor Eugene Campbell is Associate Professor in the Department of Population Studies at the University of Botswana. He holds a PhD in Population Studies from the University of Ghana (1990). He is currently a ÌÇÐÄTV IAS Visiting Fellow.

 His current research interests include: 
  • Brain drain and brain circulation
  • Remittances, poverty and development
  • Xenophobia
  • Migration and health
His presentation will be on research and partnerships at the University of Botswana.
