Careers in teaching classics and ancient history in schools
The JACT Ancient History Committee, in assocation with the School of St Helen and St Katharine, Abingdon, are organising a one-day event on careers in Classics/Ancient History teaching. This is aimed at current/former UK undergraduates or graduate students interested in moving into a career in teaching. It is designed to give those studying at University an insight into what it is like to teach Classics in a school, and how they might enter the profession.
There will be a range of speakers, all of whom are closely involved in Classics education in the UK. They will provide a range of perspectives, with experience of teaching in a wide range of different schools, assessing students' work in public examinations and training teachers to enter the profession. The course leaders for the PGCE Programmes at Cambridge and KCL will also be in attendance.
