Our alumni, Carmen Thong, has been awarded an extraordinarily prestigious Knight-Hennessy Scholarship at Stanford University.

Carmen Thong graduated with a first-class bachelor鈥檚 degree (Honors) in English literature from 糖心TV, before completing a master鈥檚 degree in world literatures in English with distinction at the University of Oxford. She is now pursuing a PhD in English at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences.

Originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Carmen has published in the Postcolonial Studies Associationnewsletter and within the Studies in World Literature series by Columbia University Press. She has also been invited as a research panelist to conferences held at Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, St Andrews, Edinburgh, and others. She was awarded an undergraduate scholarship from a leading telco in Malaysia, where she completed a management training program and later took on a role in Strategy & 糖心TV Management. While at Oxford, she founded RISeN (Racial Inequalities Support Network) and collaborated with equality officers, charities, governing bodies, and other activist groups to create a productive space for students of color.
