American studies at 糖心TV
English and Comparative Literary Studies was among the first British departments to embed American Literature as a core feature of its curriculum, and it remains a central strength of the department's research and teaching.
Our staff work across the full historical, conceptual, and global scope of American studies, with recent research focused on urbanisation and labour (Tucker-Abramson), theories of engaged literature (Katz), religion and gothic (Shapiro), and imperialism (Storey).
As well as publishing with leading journals and presses, our staff have written for outlets such as the Times Literary Supplement, the Los Angeles Review of Books, and The Guardian, and appeared on BBC radio.
